Book Release:Dr Ali-reza Bhojani’s book;‘Moral
Rationalism and Shari’a’ which is based on his doctoral research has been published by Routledge Press. The book examines the relationship between morality and Shari’a, focusing on the role of reason in understanding

Centre for Intra-Muslim Studies (CIMS):Bringing together scholars from different Muslims schools of thought,
CIMS continues to offer a unique platform for scholarly discussion towards better understanding the misconceptions dividing Muslims across the world.Meetings held between April and June 2015 included;18th April – ‘The
doctrine of Taqiyya in the perspective of the Quranic terms; Ikrah and Idtirar’with papers presented by Shaykh Ayub Rashid and Shaykh Abdul Hadi. 13th June –
‘The Concept of Sunnah in the light of Shia and Sunni perspectives’ with papers presented by Shaykh Mohammad Bahmanpour and Shaykh Abdul Hamid Kusuri.Inter-faith:On 25th April, AMI in collaboration with Birmingham
Council of Faiths hosted
Dr Chris Hewer for a another study-day workshop on
‘Understanding Islam’ with the aim to encourage a diverse multi-faith audience to learn more about Islam. With the presence of over 25 attendees from all different faiths and backgrounds, the session again proved to be an interactive and thought provoking
discussion.Community:AMI organised a Spiritual Retreat to Istanbul, Turkey between 29th April & 3rd May bringing together people from all over the world. The retreat involved a tailor-made lecture programme, spiritual development, sightseeing
and other activities accompanied by Shaykh Arif Abdulhussain, Shaykh Mohammad Reza Tajri and Mrs Mahdiya Abdulhussain.Shaykh Arif was invited by a group of students for an informal discussion and BBQ held at AMI on 27th June, entitled
#BurningQuestion. The event allowed each participant to ask one burning question each whilst remaining anonymous.
Syed Ahmer Shah spent four weeks serving as a resident alim at the
Imam Hassan Centre in Sydney, Australia between May and June.
In Ramadhan, Shaykh Arif spent the first ten nights lecturing in Karachi, Pakistan; Shaykh Tajri has been lecturing in Sydney, Australia. Other faculty and students have also been serving in a wide range of grass-root community activities.
