The 6th annual AMI Contemporary Fiqhī Issues Workshop on:
‘The Past, Present and Future of Shīʿī Ijtihād’
To be held on 5th – 6th July 2018 at Al-Mahdi Institute
The Al-Mahdi Institute (AMI) is delighted to invite applications for scholars and post-graduates to present their research at the 6th Annual Contemporary Fiqhi Workshop.
The Fiqhī Workshop at AMI is a scholarly gathering, bringing together a diverse group of leading international scholars from different dispositions concerned with grass roots challenges faced by Muslims in the contemporary world. Central to the aims of the workshop series is to allow a free and open space for diverse critical engagement with the Muslim tradition in light of contemporary concerns. The usual workshop format is 20-25 minute presentations followed by ample space for questions and discussion amongst participants, with papers from scholars spread over the two days.
Applicants wishing to present at the workshop are requested to submit:
– Contact information and a brief biography.
– Tentative title
– An Abstract of 300-500 words
The deadline for the submission of proposals is 30th April 2018. Successful applicants will be notified by 7th May 2018.
Accepted applicants from within the E.U. will be supported for their travel, accommodation and hospitality during the workshop, with a further limited number of travel bursaries available for those applying from outside the E.U.
