2. POSTPONED: Conference: “Islam, Peace, and Justice”, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada, 21-22 September 2020
Due to the Corona crisis, the conference has been postponed until 20-21 September 2021. Papers are invited that challenge stereotypes about Muslims, their relationship with cultural and religious pluralism, and the connection between Islam and violent extremism. We are looking for critical articulations of how Islam and Muslims draw on faith-inspired principles and energies to fostering resilient cultures of peace and justice.

4. PhD Researcher Position (Four Years) on „The Global Qur´an“, Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg
The successful applicant has a background in Islamic Studies or relevant philological or historical discipline. They will develop and conduct a research project related to the history and impact of the Qur’an translations of the Ahmadiyya Movements.

10. Prize for the Best First Book in Mediterranean Studies, The Mediterranean Seminar/CU Mediterranean Studies Group
Eligible publications are dated 2016-2020. We are most interested in books that break new ground conceptually, are comparative and/or interdisciplinary, that emphasize the intercultural/interregional/inter-religious contact. Books from any period will be considered and are welcome from history, art and material culture, literary and cultural studies, anthropology, and sociology.

“Philanthropy” includes practices of generosity ranging from the activity of discrete individuals of all socio-economic backgrounds to that of organizations, social movements, and a variety of other forms of civic engagement. Articles are invited from Anthropology, Art, History, Political Science, Religious Studies, Sociology, Public Affairs, Nonprofit Management, Business, Philanthropy, etc. $5,000 in matching funds are provided for each special issue’s guest editor to host a research convening at their academic institution.
