3. Islam and Justice
AAIMS Inaugural Conference on the Study of Islam and Muslim Societies
The inaugural conference of the Australian Association of Islamic and Muslim Studies (AAIMS) will represent the depth and breadth of scholarship in Australia. It will showcase the diversity of this field of study which reflects the range of Muslim experiences across many countries and continents. The experiences and daily challenges faced by Muslims in Australia is, by definition, different to those in the Middle East, South Asia and South East Asia. This difference, however, does not detach them from events and processes that shape the lives of other Muslims. Studies of Muslim experiences and manifestations of Islam require a multi-disciplinary approach to capture the topic in all its multi-faceted complexity. AAIMS inaugural conference will address this important consideration by bringing together leading scholars from many disciplines, including law, politics, sociology, religious studies, philosophy and theology.

4. The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago announces a position for a full-time Lecturer in Arabic, for a one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal.
The successful candidate will typically teach a minimum of two classes of various levels of Arabic in each of three quarters (Autumn, Winter, Spring) to both undergraduate and graduate students. Additional duties of the position include contributing to the planning of the curriculum. The successful candidate must have native or near-native proficiency in Arabic and experience at the college level teaching Arabic as a foreign language. Preference will be given to candidates proficient in an Arabic dialect. A Master’s degree is required by the start date of the appointment; a Ph.D. is desirable but not required.

8. Short-Term Postdoctoral Mobility Fellowship Program in the Social Sciences and Humanities for Arab Scholars
This program is designed to support the research of postdoctoral fellows from Arab countries and to strengthen research networking and collaborations between Europe and the Arab region. It provides short-term fellowships to individual researchers who are citizens and nationals of the Arab region, who have received their PhD degree within 0-6 years, and who wish to conduct research in France (such as field research, and library and archival work).
